Customer Experience: Cloud Based EDI

One of our customers, ITW Construction Products was recently interviewed by the magazine Procurement Leaders for their article on cloud-based EDI:

As a supplier to a number of the UK’s largest builders’ merchants and specialist hardware retailers, fastener and fixing manufacturer ITW Construction Products must cope with EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) orders arriving in a number of formats.

Furthermore, it must also acknowledge those orders via EDI, sometimes within strict time limits, and advise customers by EDI that their goods have been shipped – all in an EDI format that is intelligible to the customer’s own systems.

The solution? A cloud-based EDI file format translation tool from Wesupply, hosted in the cloud and operational at ITW since July 2008.

“We don’t have to re-key any orders: it’s all automatic and electronic and there are no transcription errors to worry about,” says ITW IT project manager Mark Burridge. “We come into work in the morning and the day’s orders to be shipped are all there, ready to be processed. It does not worry us in the least that it’s a cloud based service.”
